Blind date part four

Matt could not believe how fast life Had gone. Two weeks ago he knew nothing about Abby. Having met her,his life seemed to have changed. They were so different. Could they make it work? Another question was should he try.
He had been on two dates with her.he really enjoyed his time with her. He had been happy. When he got up he  found he was so confused. He had no idea what to do.
He knocked on Kathy's door. "You know you have been out for three houers?"Kathy asked him in jest."I had not planned it that way Kath. "He told her.
"I have not see you like this?"she said. "I really like it. I know the heart is deceitful among all things and despritly wicked. I am so torn right now. I am not sure what to do. I fear that we may be unequally yoked. Perhaps I should just walk away. I just don't know!" he told her.
"Strive to be close with the Lord. Stay in his word. Don't stay away from him. " she told him.
Abby was very happy when she got home. She was all smiles when she walked in. "It went well I take itmate asked. "It went very well! I can't believe it! "Abby told her. "Do you think that there is a future for you two?" she asked. "I hope so. I want there to be. I really do!"she said.
"You don't mind that he is a king James fundy ?"she asked. "He is very reasonable person. He is strict but he does not fit the stereotype. He is not angry.he is cheerfull about it. It I'd who he is not what he believes. I appreciate that."she told her.
He took his sisters advice. He spent a lot of Time in the bible and in prayer. During the week ,he did not talk to Abby. He was buisy with work and his duties in the church.
He felt he should be apart for a bit.he did not want to close the door with her. He was not ready to go though that door. He decided it was ok to wait. There was no need to hury. He decided to wait .
Abby had been very happy when she went to bed that night. She decided to wait for mat to call her. She felt that it was important to put the ball back into his court. It was hard. She decided to be patcient.  She decided not to call him but to wait.
Friday night .
"So you going to go out with Abby tomorrow?" Kathy asked."I am thinking about it. I have not talk to her yet. She might have plans. "He said.

He dialed her number. He was nervous as he dialed." hay matie! I wondered if you were going to call!"she said. "Are you available tomorrow? Wreather is  supposed to be good?" I was thinking about a picnick?" he asked .
"That would be great! I would love to!"she said. "1:30? Ok?"She asked."sounds good! I Will see you then!"he said ."sounds great!"She said .
Like he did the last time,he picked her up. She wanted to ware pants but decided to ware a skirt.she wore a Gray sweater and Gray skirt.her hair was In a pony tail.she wore flip flops.
His car was plane. He only had one bumper sticker.it said I love beagles.he had sports radio on. He turned on a CD of hyims but turned it down.
" so I figured you would have a bunch of bumper stickers?"she asked. "Your car has quite a few. U.cc ,United day and a few orthers. Bumper stickers is not really my thing. "He said.
"I missed you!"she said."I missed you. I was kept prety buisy. "He said "I understand. I am trying to juggle work and school and church. I am glad we can get together today."she said. "So am I!"he said.
The car parked near a park. The Two of them set up the blanket. They got everything set up. They Sat down. "So how many brothers and sisters do you have? I realised I had not asked!"she said."I have three sisters and two brothers! "He said.
"Oh wow! You sure your not quiverfull!"she said in a jokingly manner. "I knew you we're going to say something like that!"he said. "Are you the oldest?" she asked. "I am The oldest. How Manny siblings do you have?"he asked. "Two sisters and a brother. I am the second oldest."she said.
"Your not too far off from being quiverfull !"he said. "I think four is the cut off!"she said. "oh ok!"he said.they both laughed.
"Are you close to your family,"she asked."yes . my parents and I are very close. My sister Kathy who is two years younger then I is the one is I am closest with. I am 20 and my youngest brother is two. "He said.
"That Is quite an age range!"she said "it is. What is the age range of your siblings?"he asked "I am 21.my brother is 25. My sister is 16 and my youngest sister is 14." she said.
"So ! Has your dad always been a pastor?"she asked."yes! He started a church a year before I was born. We stayed there until I was six. He started another church. Then he started the one we are at now. This one is my favorite."he said.
"Your dad likes to start churches?"she asked."yes. All of his churches were plants. He tries to start a church in an area with little independent Baptist churches and start one. He tries to get the church established and in a good financial situation and turns it over to strong dec On bored then moves on and does it again."she said.
"Is that you want to do"?she asked."I do. I love the idea. The churches we have been at are made of first and generation Christians."he said.
"My denomination works differently.we are assigned to the churches we pastor. " she said.
"So! How did you come to be interested in becoming a minister?"he asked. "I attended church before I was born. My mother is a fith generation congrugationalest. That what she says. My dad was from a Baptist background but my mom won the debate of where to go to church.  Being one of the few teens there I was very involved in the church. When I was 14 I decided I wanted to be a minister. "She said.
"Have you preached?"he asked."yes many times. I assume you have preached?"She asked."yes I have. "He said.
"So you don't believe women should be pastors?"she asked."well it not that I don't believe in women pastor,the bible teaches that leadership is to be male. Any time qualifications are given such as in first Timothy ,both bishops and deacons are to be male. "He said.
"Is that a command or an example? Is is that man must only be bishop and deacons or did they just happen to be male? It was a different time!"she said."God does not change.his plan with feeling with mankind has always included male leadership. Women have always played a vital role in God's plan. Not leadership. "He said.
"You believe this is an important issue?"she asked. "As a fundimentilest,we believe In the fundimentles of the faith. We believe in taking the bible literally. God said it,that settles it."he said.
"I see! "She said . "so Will you come hear me preach some time?"he asked."so is that your tactic?flirt and convert?"she asked."oh no! My flirting is genuine."he said. "I know! I will come sometime.Will you come when I preach?" she asked."yes I will be in the back. "He said. "Ok!"she said.
"Your different then I preceve fundimentest.your not critical. You are happy. Your not condescending or mean. " she said.
"Christianity does not exist to oppress. It exist to free. The bible makes me happy. Fundimentism is freeing at least it Is supposed to be."
He said.
They realized that they had a lot of differences. They Had a lot to work though. They ended up spending most of the day together as was there custome. They then packed up. They headed for the car.
She took his hand.he seemed a bit reluctant. He was unsure about physical contact. He decided to go for it. He took her hand. They walked to the car.
They drove to her house.they said there good byes. Mat was left more and more confused. Abby really liked him. She found him to be kind. She hoped that they could make it work but could they.

Blind date part three

Mat against his better judgement, agreed to be set up on a blind date. The date was not at all what he expected. She was studying to be a minister at a college geerd to mainline denomination. She was nice but she was all wrong for him.
He planed on moving on. The date would be a distant memory.
His family were curious how the date went .he was fairly criptic about it. The family did not press him about it.
Abby was surprised how much she enjoyed the date. In many ways he and her were poler opposites. She found her conversations with him to be very stimulating.
She regretted the fact that she would probably never seen him again. She figured that she would get over it.she would move on. Things happen. That how it was.
He tried to forget about her. The more he tried not to think about her the more he did. It was driving him crazy. A week had gone by. Not a moment went By where she was not in his thoughts.
One day he decided to call her. He was shocked that He was even considering this. Finaly he decided to throw caution to the wind and call her.
He took out his phone and dialed the number. As he called, he got really nervous. It rung a few times then she picked form
Abby thought about him.she considered calling him but decided not to. She was reeding when her cell phone rang. She was shocked when she saw who it was.
She answered it. "Hello!"She said."Abby?"Matt said. "Mat? Hi I never expected to hear from you! "She said ."would you like to go out for ice cream .my treat?"he asked.
"I would. "She said. "Can you be ready in twenty minutes?"he asked. "Yea! Sure!"She said. "I Wil pick you up?"he asked . "I am on pear street. "She said. "Great !see you then!"she said.
Abby could not believe that she had Saud yes. He quickly changed. She wore a gray t shirt and pink skirt. Se decided not to ware pants Sense fundes would not keen on that.
She could not believe this was happening. She was nervous and excited at the same time. She decided that this was a good thing.
He did not know what to tell his parents.  He told them that he was going out for ice cream. He did not go into more details. Kathy guessed.
He got into the car and drove off. He found her house. She saw his csr and came out. He got in. He smiled when he saw her.
"Its reverend Abby!"he said. "Please tell me your not going to become your pet name for me!"she said ."there is a good chance it will. "He said ."I figured!"she said.
"Your are the first female minister form a mainline denomination ever in my car!"He said."your car did not exploded. "She said. "No ! It has not!"he said.
At the ice cream place, she got a choloate sundae with choloate source.he  got an upside down banana split.
"I am a bit of a chocoholic !"she said."I see that!"he said. "So you never found a date at your college?"she asked. "I have been on a few dates but I did not really connect with any of them. What about you?" he asked.
"There was four guys at the college. One is 54 years old,the other is 52,another is a science fiction fan who made his own models of every star trek and star wars ship and made some of his own. The other guy was really creepy.at my church the youngest man is filthy years old!"she said.
"I see. I figure you volunter for peace corps and United way?"he asked. "Yes. I was in Zambia last summer. You spent the Sumer at a fundementilist camp for kids."she said.
"Yes I did. " he said " you preached."she asked."yes my dad has me fill in a lot. I teach Sunday school."she said." you read a lot?"she asked."I do. I don't read a lot of contempary writers. I like David cloud. "He said.

. "I like some fiction. Milton's paradise lost was prety good. I hate the Lucifer  qote. Don't like dantae emtherno
."he said. "It's classic !"she said. "Its fine as long as you don't form you form your theology on it witch most do. "He said.
"It has been overdone. I will agree. You like c.s Lewis ?"she asked. "As a fiction writer yes . non fiction so so. What writers do you like?"he asked.
"Non fiction some of Bruce madsker,Ben Worthington the third. Rob bell on occasion,Tony compolo,Brian McLaren. Fiction Jane Austen,I like modern and vampires"she said.
"Oh my. I need to expand your literary knowledge. "He said. "So no tv. You listen to the radio?"she asked. "Mostly sports. I listen to hyims on CD!"he said. "I knew you were a sport guy. I listen to top 40 0r jaz."she said.

"We have very little in comon!"he said. "We do. In some ways we are polar opposites. "She said. "I know that. "He said.
"So do you want kids?"she asked. "Yes definitely! You?"he asked."yes I do. I would like to have three or four. At least one boy,one girl. I imagine your one of those quiverfull families?"she asked. "No. I am not against big families I do not quite fit the ideology of the quiverfull movement. "He said."I see! Well that is good to know. "She said.
He found her easy to talk to. He enjoyed being around her. Like the last date they spent several hovers just talking.
" so I am not quite someone you bring home to your parents. Well at least not your parents!"she said. "I think they will like you. "He said. She smiled.she was happy that he was oppen to having her over to his parent's house.
"Well it is getting late. We shoud probably head back!" he said. "Yea we probably should!"she said. They went to the car.
"So where do we go from hear,"he asked. "Where do you want to go from hear?"she asked. "I am not sure. We have our differences but I really like you. "He said. She smiled. He really liked her smile. "I really like you!"she said. "Lets take it slow but if your agreed I would like you to see you again!"he said. "I am very agreed with that. "She said.

They said there goodbyes. He watched her go. It was so odd. He had not remembered having this Much fun in a long time. He was more confused then he was before. Was this the beginning of something?
She was happy about the date. The day had been prety mundane. The date changed everything. She was so excited. She could not wait to see him again.

Blind date chapter two

Matt Campbell went to a blind date with someone he thought would be like minded. He was very surprised she was not at all what He expected.it appeared to be a bust.
After the two dispersed,he did some driving .he wanted to clear his head.he was not eager to go home.he knew the family would want a full report . he did not want to talk about it.
He drove for a while.then he stoped at a park. He Sat and thought. He headed back home. He drove back to his house. He parked in the driveway.
His dad was the pastor. They did not technically live in the parsnege but the building was next door. The church was stated by his dad. They originally ranted a building but later purchased a building.  Mat was stil living at home while he was a student. He was heavily involved in the ministries of the church including helping his dad as he conducted pastoral duties.
He considered pastoring an existing church. He really wanted to do what his farther had done. He wanted to start a church in a least evangilized area or an area with no independent fundumentle king James Baptist church.
He parked the car and turned off the car.he took the key out of the ignition.he excited the vehicle and went inside. He decided to talk to the one person he felt that he could talk to .
He knocked on the door of his sister's room. Kathy opened the door. "You just got back?"she asked."not quite ! I did not come right home!"he said she suspected something was up. He seemed unsettled.
"How did it go?"Kathy asked. "It was complicated to say the least!"he told her.she was a bit confused. "What happened?"she asked. 
"She is a student at auburn theological!"he said."she is studying to be a minister is int she? " she asked. "She is !" he Said.
"Oh no. It must have been prety awkward?" she commented."it was a bit!"he said. "It sounds it. "She said.
Kathy knew mat in a way other people including others in the family did not. She knew that was more then what he was saying . she decided to goad him a bit. " the good news us that it is over.you can move on. This misadventure can become a distant memory!"she said.
"That is the problem. I really like her. "He said."oh?"Kathy remarked."she was funny. We went back and forth bantering .we were very playful.we debated but it was not  meen spirited.I feared it ending. We are wrong for another.it can't work but a part of me wishes that were not the case. I figure In time I will forget about her. I will meet a girl who is independent fundamental kjv Baptist.we will live by Grace until we are raptured or called home to glory!"he said.
"I am not convinced. I don't think you are either. "She said."I never should have  Said yes. earl is a good guy but not such a great judge of character." Mat said .
Mat had trouble sleeping that night. The more he tried not to think about her,the more he did. His mind started to sounder. He pictured them a couple. Then he back tracked. He tried to purge all thoughts like that. It was hard to. Finally he fell asleep!. Abby went to her car and drove of. She returned home .she saw her roommate."how did it go?'jill asked."we disagree on a wide range of issues. In some ways we could not be any different. "Abby said.
"So when is the wedding?" jill asked."not funny jil! He is not my type. I am sure I am not his type. "She said."then why are you beeming. You have not been this happy sense cspan had wall to wall coverage of bono 's testimony before congress. "Jill said.
"I am never going to see him again. I am sure he could not get out of there fast enough. Besides he is a fundy. Could you imagine me the wife of a fundy Baptist pastor. Barefoot pregnant with wife number eight giving piano lessons I'm good!"she said.
"I will remind you of this conversation at your bridal shower !"Jill told her. She gave a slight chuckle.
That night Abby thought about the date. She started to day dream about there life together. She was surprised that her mind was going there. It was going there. She tried to dismis it. She fell asleep as well.
Was the date a blip on the screen. Was this the beginning of something.time would tell.

Blind date

Earl was a young man. He was a bit esentric. He was well liked. He was known for his love of Jesus. He was a kind man. He knew two man who were close friends of his. They were from two different circles to which he was involved with. He decided that these two friends would be perfect for each other.
Both were a bit reluctant. After several prodding they both agree. They a range to meat at a restaurant near by. They arranged to meat each other at the restaurant. They agreed to be there around four thirty.
Ben was a junior in college. He was attending a bible college he was training to be a pastor. He worked a job part time at a hotel. That was how he knew earl. Earl worked there as well.
Abby was a bible school student as well. She went to a different bible college then he did. She worked at a cofee shop he frequented.
He was really nervous.he was surprised that he was doing this.he considered backing out but decided that at this point it was too late. At least that was he thought. He decided that it was one night. That was not a lot of pressure.
Abby was surprised that she went along with it. Earl really wanted her to do this. She kinda did this to humor him. She hoped that she would be presently surprised. She hoped that it would turn out ok.
Mat had no idea what to ware. He decided to not ware a dress shirt and tie.he did think about it but decided against it. He put on a red polo shirt and khaki pants.
He arrived at the restaurant a few minutes before she arrived. They had made reservations. They seated him.  After a couple minutes He saw a young lady heading towards him.she was walking with a waiter.she was led to the table where he was. He got up. He extended his hand and she shock it.
"Helo I'm mat!" he said. "Hi I'm Abby!"she said. She had Brown hair. She wore a white sweater and blue blouse and black skirt and flip flops.she was taken a back by his atire. She Sat down.
"I understand that you are in seminary?"she asked."oh no! I am in bible college. Stil In the under graduate program. "  he said.
"Oh ok. I did not realize that!" she said."I am a junior."he said."are you going for m div?"She aBsked."I am not planning to. A lot of churches I would be looking to pastor do not require it. I am a good student but I have had to push myself. I do not want to think about masters level courses."he said.
She was very taken aback.she was not expecting this. He was not quite what she expected.
"I understand that you area bible school student?"he asked. "I graduated from college.I am in seminary!"she declared. "Your studying to be a minister?" he asked."yes. I am!"she answered.
He got really nervous. What had earl gotten him into. He thought oh two studying the bible. That might make a good match. He was not sure how to handle this.a part of him wanted to get up and go right now.
It started to make sense to her . he was probably a independent fundimentle Baptist. She figured that he was probably k.j.v.that explains his dress.
"What school do you attend?"she asked "gospel Baptist college!"he said."oh! Your one of those! "She said."what school do you attend?"he asked. 
"Aubern theological !"she said."oh!"he said."we are not what either of us expected are we?" she asked."no we are not!"he said .
"Earl ment well!"she said."he did."he said. Things got quiet for a few seconds. Both began to suspect that the date was for all intense and purposes for over.
"So do you believe that the bible is literal. Is it the word of God or does it nearly contain the word of God?"he said. "It is the word of God. I am a literalist. " she said. He wanted to say except on the role of women but did not.
"The flood literal?"he asked. "I believe it was. " she said ."creation ?"he asked.she smiled."um I believed God created created the universe. I am not sure if it fiet creation or though some evolutionary process. " she said.
"Your killing me abb!"he said."so I assume your k.j.v only?"she asked."no but I only use the king James. The textus rwceptis is more reliable then Alexandrian texts. "She said. "Your in the minority on this. "She said."I realize that. The text found after 1611 have muddied the waters not made them clear. God promised to preserve his word. I doubt that was only after 1945. "He told her.
"God has preserved his word. There has been the word of God from the first century until now. The discovery off new manuscripts does not negate that. "She told him.
"I disagre. I think it is very important. Acuracy is the key.you don't want to get it wrong. "He said.
"So I assume no k love or u2 witch I'd very sad!"she said."your a u 2 fan ?"he said."yes I am. I have taken a lot of heat for it"she said. "I am sure ! "He said
"I assune no tv?"she asked."no I had one as a kid. We got rid of it. "He said
."you like camping ?"she asked."I do ! You?"he asked."yes I do. You snow mobile?"she asked."I do!"he said.
They were there at the restaurant for a few hours. They were told that it was closing soon. "I will cover the Bill!"mat said."you don't have to. "She said. "I want you!"he said.
As they left the restaurant,they both got quiet. They knew that would probably never see each orther again.neither knew how to end tonight. Neither knew what to say.
"Well It was nice to meet you."she said."same hear.  "He said. "Take care of yourself!"she said. "You too!"he said.
They started to go there separate ways probably forever. He felt a sense of sadness. He started to goto his car but he stoped. "Abb! Can I have your phone number?"he asked.she took out a pen and paper and wrote it down. She got hears.then they left.
He drove for a bit.then he went home.he knew everyone would want to know how it went.he really did not want to talk about it right now right now he needed time to sort it all out.

Blind date first take

  Earl was an amiable young man.he was a hard worker. He was a bit esentric. He loved Jesus. He loved people who also did. He knew two friends he thought would be perfect for each other.
He wanted to set the two up. He thought that they would be perfect for each other.
He spent a lot of time trying to convince the two to go on a blind date. They both liked earl. They were not sure about his judgement on things like this.
